What time do you normally start and end your workday?
"It depends on the day. If I have a really heavy day, I’m usually at the Center by about 8:00 AM, sometimes 7:30 AM. I am usually doing work in my business 5-7 days a week. I do spend quite a bit of time at my Centers. The end of my workday depends on if we are short on the front desk. If someone’s out sick I am here till close. I usually try to get out of here by 5:30 PM but it usually winds up being 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM."
Do you personally market your Center when you are out in the community?
"Yes, I do at any opportunity that comes available. If the situation presents itself, I will promote the LaVida Massage brand. If it doesn’t, then I promote the brand when I am asked, because I always wear a LaVida Massage shirt. No matter if I am in working in my business or not, I am wearing a LaVida Massage shirt and I do I get a lot of questions asked because of that."
What kind of feedback do you get from your guests?
"People are generally very, very happy that we are here in the area in the first place. The quality of the massage that they receive here and the quality of the center itself is a very big thing. People are very impressed when they walk into a LaVida Massage Center. But, just the whole scenario here, from the front desk all the way through the process of massage and then back we always receive good comments. You get some people that you cannot please period, but generally as a rule and from our center reviews, people are very happy with this center. It is customer service, without that we’re not needed and we wouldn’t even need to be here. I try and go out of my way to impress and to please the guest. That’s what we are here for."
What does your typical workday consist of?
"My day starts out in the morning: getting to the Center and making sure everybody is going to be there. I also want to make sure that the schedule is set to where we don’t have any problems with appointments and everything works on the schedule. As far as marketing, I start my morning with marketing as well, going over all the advertisements I have out there and going through all my numbers to see what’s working and not. Generally that’s my day: dealing with guests, advertisers, banking and just the normal routine of the daily stuff. I spend time at the front counter sporadically throughout the day depending on when I have time available. Because we get people walking in all the time, I try my best to make myself available to anybody who walks through this door. Even people who have an idea on how to make our service better or get the name out there, I spend a lot of my time entertaining these ideas as well."
What are your busiest times and days?
"The business time depends on the day but Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from early morning throughout the entire day we are busiest until around 6:00 PM. During the weekdays, it’s generally from the hours of about 10:00 AM to about 5:00 PM."
How many employees do you have?
"Right at the moment I have 23. My employees are about an even split when it comes to full-time and part-time."
What do you like most about operating a LaVida Massage Center?
"I like the people and the aspect of helping people. When I got into this business I had no idea of the benefits of massage and to watch someone walk in this place who is in pain and hurting and watch them leave this place feeling much better about life is just one of the most gratifying things that I can imagine to be honest. That is the number one key thing that I get out of LaVida Massage."
