The Massage Industry
The Massage Industry is currently a 15 billion dollar business that is growing at a staggering pace. Persons age 55 and older, or “Baby Boomers,” are projected to be the most rapidly growing segment of the U.S. population over the next decade. These citizens are the most frequent patrons in the massage industry. Massage therapy is also increasing its presence in the healthcare scene and is being recommended by doctors as a post surgery recovery regimen.
24% of U.S. adults had visited a massage therapist in 2007. 85% of those people reported a very favorable experience. According to the U.S. Department of Labor employment for massage therapists is expected to increase 20 percent from 2006 to 2016, faster than the average for all occupations.
